Our History
We got our first Havanese in 2016 and fell in love with the breed. Never have we experienced such a loyal, affectionate, friendly, and intelligent dog. Tragically he passed away suddenly leaving us devastated and empty. After talking to local breeders, who heard about our background in breeding and showing rabbits, it was suggested that we might get into breeding and showing Havanese. We wanted to share the joy of owning this special breed with others. And thus began our journey of A New Hope Havanese.
Our Mission
We follow Puppy Culture protocols from Prenatal all the way to teaching the next owner when they pick up their new puppies! Puppy Culture is a program created by the top veterinary behaviorist that has over 50 lessons including early neurological stimulation, aggression prevention, potty training, manding, leash walking, and so much more!
These 12 weeks are critical for breeders to culture their puppies to be the best companions possible and give them the physiological tools to handle many types of situations they will encounter in life.
Traits we look for in breeding:
Child-friendly – We have a young one at home and our Havanese are on the larger side and have great playful personality and grit to handle kids.
Affectionate – We want our pups to bond with you just as our breeders have with us. Our pups love snuggles, give eye contact and lots of kisses!
Intelligent / Obedience – A well trained dog ensures many years of stress free fun and companionship.
Loyal – Our Havanese are rarely on leashes as they usually stay close. We teach and continue to reinforce recall commands often which really helps!
Temperament – While Havanese are usually even-keeled, Puppy Culture protocols help give our pups an even temperament and prepare them for many situations they will encounter in their lifetimes.
Energetic – Havanese in general are a great balance of playful and affectionate. They can play ball, wrestle, run around and then quickly transition to sitting on the couch for snuggles.
